Torn from a world of political intrigue, and warring houses, being placed in a far more peaceful realm was a bit of a culture shock, to say the least. [attr="class","rcappleft2"] [attr="class","rcappleft3"] [attr="class","rcappleft4"] [attr="class","rcapplefttitle"]CHARACTER ABILITIES [attr="class","rcappleft51"] Spirit of the Owl“Inner Moat doubled in width after Tyto The Swift observed leaping over it.” - List of Prison Architectural Changes While Tyto's strength is comparable to the average human, their speed and agility are legendary. In the blink of an eye, they're able to easily jump roughly twelve feet. However, that is moving as fast as they are able as far as is possible for them, it requires a substantial amount of energy, and is not something done often or with reckless abandon. [break][break] In general combat or day to day use, Tyto plays a delicate balancing act in order to not overexert themself. They either use their skill to cover a long distance in one fluid motion at an average speed or to execute a quick movement. [break][break] An example of this is one of Tyto's signature moves, Blade Dance, a skill where they quickly rotate and use both the blades on their cape, and their saber to deal quick, shallow, wounds or deflect incoming projectiles (never both at once). [break][break] Blade Mastery"Let's see how good you are with that blade, little songbird." - Lotho's last words. It's not hard to guess that Tyto likes blades. No matter the occasion, they can usually be found with a combat knife somewhere on their person. It's more obvious when they're looking for a fight, and they carry their signature weapon, a custom saber. [break][break] Less obvious is the combat potential for Tyto's signature asymmetrical cape. The daggers on the three outermost "feathers" of the cape aren't sharp enough to cause damage and are often excused as ornamental. However, Tyto is able to utilize their quick reflexes to swiftly launch them forward at a speed that gives the daggers a more potent bite. While far less effective than a well-honed blade, the unassuming daggers have their place amongst Tyto's arsenal. [break][break] Master of Disguise"I would give anything to see the face beneath that mask." - Kallar, Prince of Karakesh Very little is known about what lies beneath Tyto's mask. Since donning it, they've made a habit of always wearing a disguise of some sort when not wearing their signature garb. This can amount to something as simple as a wig and clever makeup, or something more elaborate. On occasion, Tyto employs the use of prosthetics and other means to obfuscate their missing arm. This is usually reserved for cases where having a missing arm would be a dead giveaway as the process is usually fairly involved. [break][break] Since arriving on Tomodachi Island, Tyto hasn't made use of this skill much, if at all. Compared to their world, the island is far more technologically advanced and full of beings with abilities that can see through a disguise at a glance. Once they become more acclimated to the mechanics of the realm, they'll likely rely more heavily on disguises. [break][break] Fang"Known Associates: A small creature that resembles something of a cross between a gerbil and a ferret, Fang is often dismissed as nothing more than Tyto's pet. He is commonly found riding on their left shoulder, and when he's not, he's rarely too far away. On the surface level, the pair's relationship is that of a master and a pet, however, it runs much deeper than that, and they're much more like partners. [break][break] Small, agile, and feisty, Fang is the perfect distraction in battle. With the duo often using a tag team attack where Tyto flings the small rodent at an opponent, at which point Fang attacks then retreats before the going gets too tough. [break][break] Outside of battle, he often helps Tyto with tasks that are too difficult or tedious to do with one hand, and in many ways Fang acts as their left arm. The pair is inseparable and fiercely loyal to each other. Everything and nothing. I've got a million contradictory tales about a red-caped acrobat with a sword. Some tales are folklore, others propaganda... But Tyto doesn't stay in one place long enough for a story to stick." - Uthnan, House Karkaresh Sage-Historian Tyto the Swift is not a person. They are a legend, an ideal made corporeal. If you asked three people in their homeworld who Tyto was, you'd get three different answers. Theories relating to who the Owl was were as numerous as the stars in the sky; each one reflecting the culture they came from. They were accused of being everything from a noble to a god. Among all these theories, there was one constant: justice. Only the corrupt, the unjust, or the criminal had any need to fear Tyto the Swift, for they only struck down those who would abuse power and take advantage of the week. [break][break] At some point, even Tyto themself lost sight of who they were before donning the guise of the Owl. While they were certainly born and had a life, dreams, and aspirations, the last time they allowed themselves time to be anything other than an avatar of justice was little more than a distant memory. [break][break] Considering this, it's no surprise that when they woke up in the peaceful world of Tomodachi Island there were, and still are, some issues with Tyto adjusting to this change. Having lived a life where every second was a fight, and then suddenly finding themself in a utopia was jarring, to say the least. Joining Omega Five was suggested, but Tyto was more than a little suspicious of any government, especially one so shadowy as the council. [break][break] It should be acknowledged that Tyto made some attempt to assimilate, at first. They attempted to find a regular job, but their muteness and general stoic presence were a little offputting to potential employers, and, though they wouldn't admit it, they felt some anxiety about the prospect of a normal life. Instead, they settled into street performing. Tyto was an impressive juggler, and Fang knew a few tricks that could entertain passersby. It wasn't lucrative, but it paid the bills. [break][break] That could have, should have, been enough, but Tyto still struggled. They found their hand on the hilt of their knife more than it needed to be. Little things set them off; a sudden noise, someone maintaining eye contact for a little too long, or accidentally giving the impression of tailing them. In the absence of a fight, their brain struggled to find one everywhere. [break][break] It wasn't until they were presented with the opportunity to stop a purse snatcher that they considered taking up vigilantism again. With the Tomodachi Island being so much more technologically and supernaturally advanced than their world Tyto had dismissed the idea initially, but it was hard to ignore how much more at ease they were in day to day life afterward. Not long after, they began spending their nights going after whatever criminals they could find, and Tyto finally started to feel like they found their place on the island.
